How to Get Here: Bus from Honolulu Airport

First and most importantly: if you have any more than carry on luggage – forget it. According to TheBus website your bag must fit under the seat in front of you or on your lap—without protruding onto another seat. They give a maximum size of 24” x 18” x 12” inches.

From the Airport to The Plumeria | More Information about TheBus

1. At the Airport: Take TheBus #19 or #20

The bus stop at the airport is one floor up from baggage check; on the same level as departures. The bus stops are in the center median of the roadway. Any of the Eastbound 19 or 20 buses will get you to downtown, Ala Moana and Waikiki.

TheBus #19 - From 6:30 am until 11:30 pm
Bus #19 travels from the airport to downtown & Ala Moana about every 30-45 minutes. Sometimes the buses come one right after another and then it is a bit longer wait for the next one. Traffic jams them up sometimes. But take heart, it is also jamming up the taxis and those people are paying to sit in traffic – by the minute.

TheBus #20 - From 6:30 am to 6:30 pm
Bus #20 travels the same route to town every 45 minutes. Combine the two routes and you shouldn’t have too long a wait for the next bus. After 6:30 pm the only bus is #19.

The cost to ride is $2.50. It must be the exact change – no exceptions. Be sure to ask for a transfer ticket when you board the bus. You will use this when you transfer to another bus to reach Maikiki.  If you are arriving after 11pm I suggest you take the bus to Ala Moana Shopping Center and walk up Piikoi Street to reach us. That late at night you might not make the bus connection at the transfer point.

Move towards the back of the bus to sit. The seats at the front are for elderly and handicapped—so you’ll probably end up moving back anyways if you have Aloha.

The entire bus trip should take about 50 minutes.  The ride on #19 or #20 will take about 30 minutes.

2. Transfer at King and Punchbowl: Bus #2, #13 or #1

Transfer (from TheBus #19 or #20) at the King and Punchbowl stop --- This is a major stop; it is across the street from the Iolani Palace and the State Library. Here you will catch TheBus #2 or #13 or #1 from this stop. One goes by about every ten minutes. Use your transfer ticket.

3. Final Stop: at King and Piikoi

Exit at the King and Piikoi stop. You will see a Jack in The Box, Chevron and 76 gas station at the 7-11 on each corner surrounding the stop.
