The Plumeria Hale has a 26 room Residence House which provides a few 2-bed “double bedrooms” (NO bunk beds in dorms!) and also private single rooms in shared suites. You will find us to be both more affordable and less crowded than the hostel scene in the tourist areas, as we are not an in-and-out facility. We primarily serve weekly or monthly guests, but if your needs differ, please email us to see what we may have available.

Each apartment space shares a bathroom and kitchen with no more than 5 unrelated people.

The Plumeria Hale is not designed as a hotel or hostel, but is a small, simple apartment complex built in the 1950’s. We offer free wi-fi, laundry, BBQ area, some female-only 3-bedroom suites for those who prefer, no curfew, and on-site smoking must be done outside.

The Plumeria Hale is an excellent place from which to explore Honolulu and Oahu. We especially encourage those who are considering a move to Honolulu, as an affordable first stop while job hunting and apartment hunting. There will be a security deposit of $250 (for 4 weeks or less), or $500 (for longer than a 4 week stay).

Security Deposit

  • Three weeks or less: $250 deposit

If you check out during office hours, we refund your security account balance immediately so you have your funds available.

We do not handle walk-ins. We are a small establishment and plan our arrivals. You are welcome to stop by and check us out before reserving.

Check In Times

Being small, we have limited hours to check in. We do not have the staffing levels of a hotel or hostel, so please plan to arrive during these hours.

Monday - Saturday from 10am to 5pm

General Information for Short Term Room Rentals

Cancellation Policy: We require a $250 deposit prepayment MINIMUM to make a reservation (see security deposit terms). If you cancel 14 days or more before your reservation date you will receive a 95% refund. If you cancel less than 14 days before your reservation you will receive an 85% refund.

Short Term Rooms: Age 21 and over only, as we allow alcohol on site. Quiet hours begin at 10pm - we are a residence house, not a party hostel.

Outdoor socializing area: Shade trees, barbecue grills, beach chairs, umbrellas.

The Plumeria provides simple, clean rooms, with inner spring twin and double mattresses, a pole or ceiling fan, dresser and reading lamp. Some rooms available with in-room small fridge and basic cable with TV.

Each suite has a small common area (shared space) with a family size fridge (larger suites may have in-room fridges) gas stove top, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and basic pots and dishes. We provide bedding, trash bags, dish soap, toilet paper and weekly cleaning of the common area.

Guests provide their own towels and toiletries.

The Plumeria’s location is very convenient. We are on Piikoi, between King Street and Beretania Street. TheBus routes 1, 2, & 13 pass near us about every 10 minutes or so. Two supermarkets (Safeway & Times) are within a block of us; and Walmart is three blocks away. Ala Moana Beach Park is about 0.7 mile down Piikoi Street.
